When a friend of mine from Europe stopped by a few months ago, I had no idea that his little visit would transform my life in such a big way.

Being understandably tired after his ten hour flight from Stockholm, he pulled from his luggage this strange-looking thing with thousands of spikes protruding out of it and excused himself for the evening. "You're sleeping on THAT?" I asked. Seeing the confused look on my face, he told me that I didn't know what I was missing --- that this mat, which closely resembled Godzilla's mouth inside out--- helped him to relax and get an amazing long night's rest. Although I'm a sucker for exercise and meditation, I'm also somewhat of a skeptic. My friend urged me to try it out.

I took it to bed and set the timer for 30 minutes. Good thing I did, because after 15 minutes, I fell fast asleep. After getting up and putting the mat away, I went back to bed and woke up the next day, feeling as rested as if I had slept for two days straight.

I was sold. I HAD TO GET ONE---NOW! I searched high and low in New York and couldn't find it anywhere. "Crazy!" I thought. You can pretty much get anything in NYC, and this thing...this thing that was selling like no one's business in Sweden and Europe...was nowhere in sight. At this point, not only did I want one for myself, I was determined to make my own personalized, improved version and introduce it to New York. I got together with some friends and the rest, as they say, is history.
